High Intensity Interval Training
SHRED is Michael and Calibra’s brand of HIIT, a fitness regime that comprises short bursts of intense exercise and lower intensity rest periods. The benefits of such training are vast, but chief among them are an elevated metabolism (even hours after the workout), fat loss, strength gain, improvement of overall fitness, and a smile that lasts long after your heart rate has dropped.
There are few practices that match the mind-body-soul connection that yoga provides. Connecting our breath to conscious movements and postures is an incredible way to build balance and strength, stretch our connective tissues, and calm the busy mind. Calibra’s resident yoga & mindfulness coach, Roma, brings something else to the mat: joy. After just a few minutes of his precise cues, evocative language, levity, and tunes, you’ll be practically floating off the mat.
Sweating it out in a dry sauna is a whole-body thermotherapy that has been enjoyed by humans for thousands of years, all over the world. At Calibra, the sauna is an important component of the recovery process. The heat will relax your muscles and joints, easing tension, and speed up your heart rate, increasing blood flow to the skin. As you sweat and breathe the hot, fragrant air, your entire body will glow with a newfound radiance.
Much like the sauna, the ice bath (a variation of “cold plunge”) is a widely recognized practice that helps our bodies and minds. Biohacking experts like Tim Ferris swear by this shocking-at-first experience, and with good reason: ice baths are great for post-exercise muscle recovery and reducing fatigue. Equally important, studies have linked cold plunges with stress- and anxiety relief, as well as elevated levels of happiness. Diana, who has been teaching yoga and breathwork for nearly two decades, will be guiding you through a transformative series of breath exercises that will decrease stress, improve lung function, and enhance your cognitive processes. “Take a breather,” will take on a whole new meaning.
Recovery is a vital element of Calibra. We maximize the beneficial effects of all our activities when we give the body plenty of active rest. You will have tension-melting sessions with our masseuse, Wendy, and sports massage therapist, Leah; Rapid Reboot time (compression massage boots) for those tight leg muscles; Theragun percussive therapy for all over; and extreme temperature training in the sauna and ice bath. Take your recovery to the next level.
